BORDERPOL

The one global resource for border security matters and international cooperation

BORDERPOL® is a 21st Century global border security body dedicated to making international borders smarter and safer. Recognizing the need for the establishment of a global home to over 1000 border related services BORDERPOL was officially registered in March 2003 as a non profit international association with Headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. It's primary mission is to represent the interests of and to  facilitate co-operation among progressive national border services and related agencies in order to establish and operate border systems  that effectively protect and efficiently connect the international community. To learn more about BORDERPOL we invite you to contact the Secretairiat.

Ottawa July 17, 2009 -- WBO-BORDERPOL announces the creation of the International Council for Border Management (ICBM). This forum will be to bring together the leadership of the worlds national border police,  immigration, customs and associated border protection services to discuss, debate and exchange views on issues which impact these services worldwide. The first ICBM meeting will be held in late 2009. Participation will be by invitation only.  For more information please contact the Secretariat.

Ottawa July 2, 2009 -- WBO-BORDERPOL has announced the development of the International SAFEBORDER NETWORK.

The SAFEBORDER.Net initiative is a global extranet designed for sharing information between countries and between the agencies involved in border security.

Development of SAFEBORDER.Net will be rolled out in three phases.

Phase one of development is already well advanced and will see the launch of a global password protected extranet available to any law enforcement practitioners or agencies involved in border security. Here they will be able to share information on education, training, doctrine, best practice and more specific information about criminal gangs, terrorist organizations, their structure and modus operandi. It will also include other useful features like a forum, equipment database and events calendar.

Phase two will include an e-learning programme, the purpose being to set and raise standards across the global border enforcement community and create an internationally recognised qualification.

Phase three will introduce ?bad guy? information sharing. This will facilitate the use of the SAFEBORDER.Net interface to share information on known criminals.

SAFEBORDER.Net is an entirely self funded BORDERPOL initiative and in the absence of funding from governments, BORDERPOL is actively seeking corporate sponsorship to continue development of the network.
