SECURING AND ENHANCING THE MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE

A Letter from Our ED, Thomas A. Tass

The World Border Organization or “BORDERPOL” as we are better known,  in enabling and furthering the notion that borders should provide transnational security as well as enhance the movement of people. This cannot be accomplished without ongoing cooperation and consultations between national border agencies, intergovernmental organizations and industry representatives.

Currently there are many legacy organizations and institutions around the world that have marginal or associated interests in border issues. These can include national police, customs, immigration and aviation security bodies to name just a few. Each of these groups has an important role to play in the multidisciplinary work that takes place every day at border crossing points, airports and seaports.  Many of these services and agencies belong to specialist global organizations which represent their specific professional interests.

The best plan to ensure expanded global security and enhancing the legitimate movement of people is to support efforts to bring these multi-disciplinary groups together within a focused organization where despite their different missions and responsibilities, solutions to common challenges can be found.

Fortunately, since 2003 WBO-BORDERPOL has been working to find the ways and the means to accomplish that task in a cost effective and meaningful way. At the same time the mantra of our organization is to complement and not to compete with the work of legacy organizations that have overlapping interests in border security and human migration management.  Never the less there is a great deal of work to be done and with appropriate assistance from government and industry for research, development and capital costs, WBO-BORDERPOL is prepared to move forward to improve our capacity to secure and enhance the movement of people on an expedited basis.
