Ottawa, July 1, 2010 - The World Border Organization-BORDERPOL begins a series of updates to its programs and its corporate identity. The first of these includes the introduction of an updated corporate mission statement that more clearly reflects the organizations global mission in the 21st Century. The promotion of safer borders and more efficient systems and procedures to facilitate travel, trade and commerce will continue to frame the organizations strategic policies and programs. "Securing and enhancing the movement of people" better reflects the primary purpose of BORDERPOL. In the coming months the Secretariat will be announcing a series of other enhancements to the branding and promotion of the organization.

Ottawa, June 22, 2010 - Senior members of the Administrative Council and the Secretariat met for a plenary session on June 19th in Ottawa. 
The four hour meeting focused on a broad agenda which included reviews of the budget, legal and administrative policies as well as strategic program goals.

The Second annual CEPS International Conference will be held in Canberra, Australia from 7-8 October 2010. The theme for the 2010 conference is "The Nexus between Policing and Security". WBO-BORDERPOL supports this educational initiative that is associated with Griffith University, The Australian National University, Charles Sturt University and the University of Queensland. Border Management Conference, 28 - 29 October 2010, CCT Smithfield, London, UK. WBO-BORDERPOL supports this conference. For further information click HERE. The Executive Director of WBO-BORDERPOL will make a presention entitled "21ST CENTURY TRANSNATIONAL BORDER MANAGEMENT AND THE CHALLENGES OF SATISFYING MULTIDISCIPLINARY INTERESTS AND NATIONAL POLICIES" It will focus on:

• Interoperability challenges at the national and transnational level

• Difficulties of identifying tomorrow’s threats with today’s tools

• Ending the legacy of institutional rivalries and forging a truly holistic approach

• Benefits of a secular approach to border management
